The Shellfish Pig at River Cottage

On the back of being the first and only ever winners of the “Best Streetfood” award at the 2017 Food Magazine Awards we were invited to trade at the iconic River Cottage. We were a bit blown away by the familiarity of the place having been a fan since it first aired on tv many years ago! We loved having time to look around the day before the event once we had finished our set up and we even stumbled across the famous kitchen with huge hearth that Hugh stood in front of cooking up his tasty dishes back in the day!

The place is stunning and we have to say it is probably the best food festival we have ever done. The pitch fees were fair, the ticket sales were, well, sold out for both days and they got the right number of traders to ensure that everyone did well but that there was incredible choice for the customer, the standard was high! The site itself was inspiring especially with regard to their allotments which are so well organised and maintained it made us a little embarrassed of our own efforts!

With such a great standard of food available it made us even more happy that this happened….

A sell out for us! We got invited back to both of their events next year (can’t wait!) and as you can see from our first photo we also got to meet Hugh briefly and tell him a bit about our dishes (we had already sold out so he couldn’t try them unfortunately!). Maybe next year Hugh!
